About The Work

I paint in search of resonance. My work grows from a lifetime in music, where resonance is something that emerges when separate voices, energies and intentions begin to belong to one another. I find myself looking for the same relationship in paint.Through layered color, atmosphere, texture and gesture, I explore the places where light appears, forms emerge and individual elements begin to speak to one another. Some paintings begin with something observed — a landscape, a figure, a flower or a moment of light — while others begin simply with movement, color or an unanswered question.I am less interested in describing what something looks like than in creating the conditions for it to be felt. The painting is finished when the parts stop competing and begin to resonate.
